On October 24, 2023, Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Wu Peng attended and addressed the launch of the 2023 Report on Chinese Investment in Africa held by the China-Africa Business Council. Nearly 300 people, including representatives from African countries who were in China to attend the 16th Senior Officials Meeting of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, were present at the meeting.

In his speech, Wu Peng said that China encourages non-governmental investment in Africa, to promote the development of Africa's industrialization and enhance the added value of African products. He also expressed the hope that the African side will provide preferential and sustained policy support and a sound business environment for Chinese companies in Africa, especially to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel and property, which is the basic condition for facilitating Chinese investment in Africa. Currently, the world has entered a critical period of post-pandemic economic recovery, and China's economy has shown a clear momentum of rebound and improvement since the beginning of this year, making China among the world's leading major economies. China will continue to ensure steady and sustained progress along the trajectory of high-quality development, further deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with African countries and other countries worldwide, and join hands to inject strong momentum into world economic recovery and growth.
