On February 29, 2024, Assistant Foreign Minister Miao Deyu held talks with visiting Ambassador Tareq M. A. M. Albanai and Ambassador Alexander Marschik, Co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Negotiations on the United Nations Security Council Reform of the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly, who are also Permanent Representatives to the United Nations of Kuwait and Austria. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on the current international situation, Security Council reform, and other issues.
