On August 27, 2024, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Eurasian Affairs Li Hui held a briefing to diplomatic envoys to China and representatives of Chinese and foreign media on the recent fourth round of shuttle diplomacy on the Ukraine crisis.
Li Hui briefed on the in-depth exchanges with all parties during his visits to Brazil, South Africa, and Indonesia on the current situation of the Ukraine crisis, efforts to cool down the situation, and the next phase of the peace talks process. Li Hui said that all parties are generally concerned about the risk of escalation and spillover of the conflict, concerned about the deep-rooted reasons for the protracted crisis, and highly appreciated the six common understandings issued by China and Brazil, which provide a valuable path for promoting the resolution of the crisis. All parties have put forward their own ideas on the peace process and look forward to strengthening exchanges with China to promote a fair and just solution to the crisis.
Li Hui stressed that the situation has recently become more complex, but the more difficult the time is, the more important it is not to give up hope for peace. China will continue to promote peace talks in its own way and contribute China's wisdom and solutions to the political settlement of the crisis.
