On September 18, 2024, Director-General of the Department of Arms Control of the Foreign Ministry Sun Xiaobo held consultations with visiting Director-General of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Fernando Arias in Beijing. The two sides had an exchange of views on accelerating the destruction of chemical weapons abandoned by Japan in China and the development direction of the OPCW, among other issues.
