On October 15, 2024, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs Qiu Xiaoqi, upon invitation, attended and addressed the 6th China-Latin America and Caribbean Region People-to-People Friendship Forum held in Xi'an.

Qiu Xiaoqi said that in recent years, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of China and Latin American and Caribbean states, fruitful results have been achieved in people-to-people exchanges between China and Latin American and Caribbean states, making important contributions to the relations between China and Latin American and Caribbean states entering a new era featuring equality, mutual benefit, innovation, openness, and benefits for the people. China is ready to take this forum as an opportunity to continuously deepen exchanges and cooperation with Latin America and the Caribbean region, promote mutual understanding among the people, and consolidate the profound foundation of popular support for the building of a community with a shared future between China and Latin American and Caribbean states.

The China-Latin America and Caribbean Region People-to-People Friendship Forum is one of the important sub-forums under the framework of the China-CELAC Forum. This forum, themed "Promoting Exchanges and Mutual Learning, Enhancing People-to-People Friendship", was attended by more than 100 representatives of 20 friendly organizations towards China and diplomats from 19 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean region.
