On December 5, 2024, Vice Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong met with visiting South African Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Anna Thandi Moraka.
Chen Xiaodong said that during the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in September this year, the two heads of state announced the elevation of bilateral relations to an all-round strategic cooperative partnership in the new era, writing a "golden chapter" in the "golden era" of China-South Africa relations. China is ready to work with South Africa to translate the common understandings reached between the heads of state into a strong driving force for the steady and sustained development of China-South Africa and China-Africa relations, increase political mutual trust at a higher level, foster higher-quality mutually beneficial cooperation, carry out more intensive mutual visits and exchanges, strengthen coordination and cooperation in BRICS, G20 and other multilateral affairs, and safeguard the common interests of China, South Africa and the Global South.
Anna Thandi Moraka appreciated China's support for South Africa's economic and social development, spoke highly of the great achievements of Chinese modernization and poverty alleviation, and said that South Africa adheres to the one-China principle and is ready to work with China to implement the outcomes of the FOCAC Beijing Summit and President Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa's state visit, strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, poverty reduction and other fields, and jointly uphold international fairness and justice, promoting the Global South to play a bigger role in global governance.
