On December 5, 2024, Assistant Foreign Minister Miao Deyu attended and addressed the reception for foreign participants of the Workshop for Talents on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.
Miao Deyu said that China has always practiced true multilateralism, actively supported the work of the United Nations (UN) human rights bodies, and made unremitting efforts to ensure that people in all countries fully enjoy all human rights, including economic, social and cultural rights. China champions that all countries should strive to be firm defenders of economic, social and cultural rights and the right to development, faithful practitioners of the comprehensive and systematic promotion of various human rights, and active advocates of constructive dialogue and cooperation. China firmly opposes division and confrontation on human rights issues, opposes politicizing human rights issues and using them as tools, and is ready to work with all parties to jointly advance the sound and sustainable development of the international human rights cause.
The foreign participants said that the workshop hosted by China has established a useful platform for developing countries to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in human rights. They all hope to take this workshop as an opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the successful experience of Chinese modernization and provide important reference for improving the well-being of their own people.
