On September 24, 2024, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Bin met with a delegation of counter-terrorism officials from BRICS countries including Russia, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt.
Liu Bin positively evaluated the important significance of the BRICS mechanism in leading the unity and self-strength of the Global South, and pointed out that counter-terrorism cooperation is an important part of political and security cooperation among BRICS countries. China attaches great importance to and actively participates in BRICS counter-terrorism cooperation. This visit is a practical measure taken by China to promote the deepening of BRICS counter-terrorism cooperation, which will help BRICS parties learn from each other and jointly enhance their counter-terrorism capabilities.
Representatives from the countries thanked the Chinese side for organizing this visit, and emphasized their firm support for China's counter-terrorism policies and measures. They looked forward to gaining a deeper understanding and drawing on China's experience in counter-terrorism and de-radicalization work, especially in Xinjiang, through this visit. They also expressed their willingness to work with the Chinese side to continuously achieve more practical results in BRICS counter-terrorism cooperation.
