From November 26 to 27, 2024, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on European Affairs Wu Hongbo led a delegation to attend the 10th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) in Cascais, Portugal. Wu Hongbo delivered a speech at the UNAOC Group of Friends high-level meeting, during which he elaborated on the Global Civilization Initiative and the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, and introduced China's positive role in promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations and safeguarding regional peace and stability.

During the meeting, Wu Hongbo held talks with UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the UNAOC Miguel Ángel Moratinos Cuyaubé. The two sides had an exchange of views on strengthening bilateral cooperation.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the launch of the UNAOC. Under the theme of "United in Peace: Restoring Trust, Reshaping the Future - Reflecting on Two Decades of Dialogue for Humanity", the forum held a dialogue on strengthening solidarity and mutual trust and maintaining peace and security.
