On January 24, 2025, Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Liu Jinsong met with Malaysian Ambassador to China Norman Bin Muhamad, and the two sides had a cordial and friendly exchange on the development of bilateral relations between China and Malaysia. The two sides reviewed the series of high-level exchanges and splendid celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia last year, and expressed their willingness to work together to continue to follow the important common understandings reached by the leaders of the two countries, strengthen strategic communication, deepen friendly exchanges, promote practical cooperation in various fields, and inject strong impetus into the building of a China-Malaysia community with a shared future.

The two sides also had an exchange of views on regional cooperation and issues of common interest and concern.
