Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs Qiu Xiaoqi Visits the Dominican Republic

On April 11, 2025, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs Qiu Xiaoqi visited the Dominican Republic and met with the country's Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez to exchange views on bilateral relations, international situations and other topics. Chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in the Dominican Republic Zhou Yuqi attended the meeting.

Qiu Xiaoqi highly praised the significant developments in the relations between China and the Dominican Republic since the establishment of diplomatic relations, emphasizing that China is willing to work with the Dominican Republic to deliver on the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state, strengthen bilateral exchanges, deepen political mutual trust, promote people-to-people bonds, and advance cooperation in various fields to a new level.

Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez welcomed Special Representative Qiu Xiaoqi's visit to the Dominican Republic, thanked China for its long-term support and assistance to the Dominican Republic's economic and social development, reaffirmed the Dominican Republic's commitment to the one-China principle, and expressed willingness to further deepen practical cooperation with China to promote the steady and long-term development of bilateral relations.
