On May 30, 2025, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong held a consultation with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Andrey Rudenko in Beijing on Asia-Pacific affairs between China and Russia.
Sun Weidong stated that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin, the China-Russia relationship continues its high-level development. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. In the face of the resurgence of unilateralism and protectionism in the international landscape, China and Russia must stand firmly together to jointly defend the post-war international order and uphold international fairness and justice. Asia is a stellar example and a promising land of global peace, development, and cooperation. China and Russia should continue to enhance communication and coordination in Asia-Pacific affairs, and jointly safeguard regional peace, stability, development, and prosperity.
The Russian side expressed agreement with this, and emphasized its willingness to strengthen strategic cooperation with the Chinese side to jointly maintain the good momentum of stability and development in the Asia-Pacific region.
The two sides also had a friendly and in-depth exchange of views on issues of common interest and concern.
