On June 30, 2025, Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu met with former President of the Congress and Senate of Colombia Roy Leonardo Barreras Montealegre.

Miao Deyu stated that over the past 45 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Colombia, bilateral relations have always maintained a sound momentum of development. Both sides should follow through on the important common understandings reached between President Xi Jinping and President Gustavo Petro, seek greater synergy of development strategies within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, deeply tap into the potential for cooperation in areas such as trade, investment and financing, green development, digital economy, and infrastructure development, implement the outcomes of the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum, and achieve common development.

Roy Leonardo Barreras Montealegre highly praised China-Colombia relations, extended congratulations on the successful conclusion of the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum, emphasized Colombia's firm commitment to the one-China principle, and expressed willingness to actively promote the Belt and Road cooperation between Colombia and China and further upgrade bilateral cooperation in various fields.
