On July 14, 2025, Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu held China-Russia consultations on the United Nations and Security Council affairs with Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vershinin Sergey Vasilievich in Moscow, with Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui in attendance. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on the current international situation, the United Nations and Security Council affairs, the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations and related reform initiatives, as well as international and regional hotspot issues.

Both sides agreed that the United Nations is an important achievement of the victory in World War II and the primary platform for maintaining world peace and conducting global governance. On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, both sides agreed to uphold the international system with the United Nations at its core, carry out closer cooperation within the framework of the United Nations, support the United Nations in better playing its role, and promote the building of a more just and equitable global governance system.
