
On May 12, 2025, the Meeting of National Coordinators of the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum was held in Beijing. Assistant Foreign Minister Miao Deyu attended and addressed the meeting. Deputy Foreign Minister and National Coordinator Mauricio Jaramillo Jassir of Colombia, the rotating president of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), and other national coordinators or representatives from other member states were also present.
Miao Deyu said that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the official launch of the China-CELAC Forum. The upcoming Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum provides an important opportunity for China and LAC countries to jointly discuss development and revitalization and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation. It will send a positive signal to the world that China and LAC countries are united in cooperation and jointly addressing global challenges. China is ready to work with LAC countries to further expand cooperation in various fields, jointly safeguard multilateralism and international fairness and justice, bring more benefits to the people of both sides, and work together to build a China-LAC community with a shared future.
The representatives attending the meeting discussed the outcome documents of the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum and the agenda of the plenary session. LAC countries spoke positively of the achievements made by the China-CELAC Forum over the past ten years since its official launch and expressed great expectations for the upcoming ministerial meeting. LAC countries affirmed the positive role of the Belt and Road Initiative in promoting the development of the world economy and expressed their willingness to work with China to ensure the complete success of the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum and inject new impetus into China-LAC cooperation.
