On July 23, 2025, Director-General of the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Hong Liang and Joint Secretary of the East Asia Division of the Ministry of External Affairs of India Gourangalal Das co-chaired the 34th Meeting of Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on China-India Border Affairs in New Delhi, India. Representatives of government agencies for foreign affairs, national defense, and immigration affairs of the two countries attended the meeting.
According to the important common understandings reached by leaders of the two countries, the two sides had in-depth communication focusing on implementing the outcomes of the 23rd meeting of Special Representatives for China-India Boundary Question, and agreed to work together to make good preparations for the 24th meeting of the Special Representatives. Both sides spoke positively of the progress made in the management of the border situation since last year and had a candid and in-depth exchange of views on negotiations of boundary delimitation, border control, mechanism development, cross-border communication and cooperation, and other topics, reaching initial common understandings. The two sides agreed to maintain communication through diplomatic and military channels to uphold peace and tranquility in the border areas.
During its stay in New Delhi, the Chinese delegation also paid a courtesy call on Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.
