On August 5, 2025, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Bin met with newly-appointed Ambassador of Türkiye to China Selçuk Ünal.

Liu Bin welcomed Selçuk Ünal to China for assuming his new post, stating that China and Türkiye enjoy a traditional friendship, and bilateral relations have maintained stable development. Next year will mark the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. China is ready to work with Türkiye to fully implement the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state, support each other on issues related to each other's core interests and major concerns, consolidate the political foundation of bilateral relations, improve the quality and efficiency of practical cooperation in various fields, strengthen communication and coordination on international and regional affairs, and elevate bilateral relations to a higher level.

Selçuk Ünal stated that there is huge potential for cooperation between Türkiye and China. Türkiye attaches great importance to developing relations with China and abides by the one-China principle. Türkiye is willing to deepen exchanges and cooperation with China in politics, economy, trade, culture, counter-terrorism and other fields, strengthen coordination on international and regional affairs, and jointly uphold international fairness and justice.
