
On November 24, 2025, the second Bilateral Dialogue Between China and Malaysia on the Management of Maritime Issues in the South China Sea (“Bilateral Dialogue”) was held in Beijing, China, and was co-chaired by H.E. Sun Weidong, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, and H.E. Raja Dato’ Nushirwan bin Zainal Abidin, Director-General of National Security Council, Prime Minister’s Department, Malaysia, with representatives from the two countries’ key maritime departments in attendance.
The two sides spoke highly of the positive progress made in bilateral maritime communication and cooperation since the first Bilateral Dialogue, had an in-depth exchange of views on the current situation in the South China Sea, actively discussed maritime practical cooperation in various areas and reached broad consensus. Both sides agreed to earnestly implement the important common understandings reached by the leaders of the two countries, further leverage the platform of Bilateral Dialogue, constantly deepen mutual trust, promote cooperation and advance friendship, and make greater contribution to the maintenance of sound bilateral relations and the peace and stability of the region. The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common interest.
