
On May 7, 2026, Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Liu Jinsong met with Pakistani Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi. They exchanged views in a friendly and in-depth manner on China-Pakistan relations and issues of mutual interest.
Liu Jinsong noted that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Pakistan. Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari just concluded a successful visit to Hunan Province and Hainan Province, which has produced sound political and social effects. China stands ready to work with Pakistan to maintain the momentum of high-level exchanges, advance the building of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and practical cooperation in various fields, strengthen communication and coordination on major international and regional affairs, and accelerate the building of an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.
Khalil Hashmi expressed appreciation to China for the warm and thoughtful reception extended to President Asif Ali Zardari. He noted that Pakistan is willing to work with China to earnestly follow up on the important common understandings reached by the leaders of the two countries, deepen strategic communication and practical cooperation, and jointly make the commemoration for the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and China a success.
