On March 5, 2023, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei attended an auto show held by the Kuwait Finance House (KFH) exclusively for Chinese car brands. Abdulwahab Iesa Alrushood, Acting Group Chief Executive Officer at KFH, and other senior officers were also present at the event.
During his speech at the show, Ambassador Zhang said as the world’s largest automobile manufacturing country and automobile market, China has been committed to opening-up and innovation in its pursuit of high-quality development over the recent years, adding that with increasingly higher quality of auto manufacturing, China’s new energy vehicle (NEV) sector has flourished and the production and sales of NEVs topped the global market for an eighth year in a row. China-manufactured automobiles are now available in a growing number of countries around the world, including Kuwait. As the largest trading partner of Kuwait, China stands ready to work with the Kuwaiti side to deepen our economic and trade cooperation, encourage Chinese automakers to introduce more high-quality car brands into the Kuwaiti market, and widen bilateral cooperation in the NEV sector. This will contribute to nurturing new highlights in our practical cooperation.
Abdulwahab praised the superior quality, advanced techniques and good services of Chinese car brands, saying that Chinese car brands have become increasingly popular with local consumers and achieved a growing share in the Kuwait’s auto market. KFH will enhance cooperation with Chinese automakers and work to play a positive role in boosting the Kuwaiti automobile market and promoting economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
While inspecting the exhibition hall, Ambassador Zhang held cordial talks with local car dealers and visitors and also gave an interview with Kuwaiti media organizations. The one-month auto show attracted a dozen of Chinese carmakers, including FAW Group, GAC Group, Geely and SAIC. More than 50 flagship models were displayed at the show.
