On April 23, 2024, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei met with Kuwaiti Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic and Investment Affairs Dr. Anwar Ali Al-Mudhaf. Hu Hanming, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, was present at the meeting.

Ambassador Zhang pointed out that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and Amir Sheikh Mishal, our two nations have shown increasingly solid mutual political support and achieved fruitful results through our practical cooperation over the past years, bringing new opportunities for bilateral relations. China attaches high importance to the growth of bilateral relations. It stands ready to work with Kuwait to better synergize development strategies, scale up our cooperation in investment, economic and trade, energy and other fields and lift our practical cooperation to new heights.

For his part, Anwar praised the good momentum of China’s economic rebound, saying that this will bring more opportunities to the development of Kuwait and other places across the world and that bilateral cooperation in investment, economic and trade areas enjoy broad prospects. He stressed that Kuwait places great emphasis on its cooperation with China and will work with China to well implement the important common understandings between the leaders of the two nations and strive to make bigger progress in bilateral cooperation for the benefit of the two peoples.
