On 9 July 2024, Her Excellency YAN Jiarong, the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas, presented Letter of Credence to Her Excellency the Most Hon. Dame Cynthia A. Pratt, GCMG, ON, Governor-General of The Bahamas.
Ms. Yan conveyed President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings to Dame Pratt, saying to become the 10th Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas carries both honour and responsibility. Under the guidance of the Vision of Building a Community of a Shared Future for Mankind, she will work with all walks of The Bahamas to explore further the potentials for cooperation and deepen exchange and cooperation in various fields between China and The Bahamas.
Dame Pratt warmly welcomed Ambassador Yan and asked her to convey the best regards to President Xi Jinping, the Chinese Government and the Chinese people. Dame Pratt said that The Bahamas supports China's continuous prosperity and development. The Bahamas appreciated China’s invaluable support to The Bahamas and other countries in the region in achieving Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. The Bahamas looks forward to expanding the breadth and depth of bilateral cooperation while continuing the excellent cooperation in the multilateral arena.
Earlier on the same day, Ms. Yan presented the Copie d’ Usage to Ambassador Jerusa Ali, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The Bahamas.
Ms. Yan arrived at Nassau to assume office on July 5, 2024.
