On 10 July, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives H.E. Wang Lixin met with Hon. Dr. Ali Haidar Ahmed, Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development. The two sides exchanged views on China-Maldives practical cooperation.

H.E. Wang Lixin said that at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu paid a successful state visit to China early this year. The two heads of state jointly announced the elevation of China-Maldives relations to a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, which injected new impetus into China-Maldives practical cooperation. The Chinese side will work with the Maldivian side and take the opportunity to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, promote cooperation in the social housing and unban development areas and contribute to the economic and social development of the Maldives.

Hon. Dr. Ali Haidar Ahmed expressed his appreciation for China’s long-term support for the economic and social development of the Maldives, and expressed the willingness to further strengthen practical cooperation between the two countries to improve the well-being of the Maldivian people.
