On 13 July 2024, at the invitation of the host, the Chinese Consul-General in Brisbane Dr Ruan Zongze attended the opening ceremony of Queensland Chinese Basketball League 2024S1 Season Finals and delivered a speech at the Sport Centre of Rochedale State High School in Brisbane. Representatives of overseas Chinese in Queensland, Electorate Officer of Office of Corrine McMillan MP Ms Katherine Li, representative of Dunk Star coach Mr Aaron Perry and President of Runcorn Rockets Basketball Club Mr Mark Smith were present.

Dr Ruan said,basketball and other sports exchanges are conducive to enhancing the friendship and promoting mutual understanding between China and Australia. He also encouraged overseas Chinese in Queenslandcontinue to participate and promote sports exchanges between China and Queensland.
