On July 22, Chinese Ambassador to Georgia Zhou Qian was invited to visit Sukhumi State University of Georgia. The Rector of the University, Prof. Zurab Khonelidze, accompanied the visit and hold meeting with Ambassador Zhou. Former Foreign Minister of Georgia and Advisor to the Rector, Mr. Tedo Japaridze, attended the meeting.

Ambassador Zhou said that since the establishment of strategic partnership between China and Georgia last year, the cooperation between the two sides in education and other fields has been deepening. I stand ready to promote the cooperation between State Sokhumi University and Chinese universities and think tanks.

    Prof. Khonelidze introduced the history of the university and expressed his willingness to strengthen contacts and cooperation with Chinese universities and think tanks.

    The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international situations.
