On July 22, Chinese Ambassador to Iran Cong Peiwu paid a courtesy call to Dr. Ali Akbar Velayati, Former Foreign Minister and International Affairs Advisor to the Supreme Leader.

Ambassador Cong said that China always views China-Iran relations from a strategic perspective and is willing to work with Iran to deepen the China-Iran comprehensive strategic partnership. Ambassador Cong briefed about the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and said that China will further deepen reform comprehensively to advance Chinese modernization. Dr. Velayati said that Iran cherishes the traditional friendship between Iran and China and attaches great importance to developing relations with China. Iran is willing to strengthen practical cooperation with China, promote cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and strengthen coordination and cooperation on international and regional affairs.
