On July 23, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, H.E. Yang Xiaoguang met with United Nations Resident Coordinator in Papua New Guinea Mr. Richard Howard.
Ambassador Yang gave a review of the development of China-PNG relations and China’s practices in promoting the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative in collaboration with the UN framework, and elaborated the important outcomes of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and its significance. Ambassador Yang stressed that China is committed to the UN-centered international system. The Embassy is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with the UN agencies in PNG to jointly support the economic and social development of PNG.
Mr. Howard congratulated Ambassador Yang on his new position and thanked China for its strong support to the UN agencies. He said that China is an important partner of PNG and a significant member of the United Nations. The UN agencies in PNG look forward to closer exchanges and cooperation with the Chinese Embassy to promote PNG's development in various fields.
