On July 17, 2024, the forum celebrating the 45th anniversary of China-U.S. diplomatic relations was held in Seattle. Chinese Consul General in San Francisco Zhang Jianmin attended the forum and delivered a speech.

Consul General Zhang reviewed the history of China-U.S. relations, as well as exchanges and cooperation in various fields between China and the Washington State, and expressed appreciation to friends from all walks of like for their long-standing support to the growth of China-U.S. relations. He pointed out that currently China-U.S. relations stand at a new historical juncture. To promote a healthy, stable and sustainable relationship, it is of vital importance for the two sides to implement the consensus which two presidents have agreed in San Francisco, and follow the three principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation. China and the U.S. should jointly deliver tangible benefits to people of the two nations and the world as a whole. 

Consul General Zhang stated that the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee was expected to announce a series of significant measures to deepen China’s reform in all aspects and advance Chinese modernization, and he hoped that American friends could seize the opportunities of China’s development, expand cooperation in various fields, strengthen people-to-people exchanges and build more bridges of mutual understanding.

In a warm and cordial atmosphere, local elected officials and representatives shared their experiences and perspectives on the development of China-U.S. relations. In both English and Chinese, youngsters expressed their best wishes for the 45th anniversary of the China-U.S. relations and everlasting friendship between the two people.
