Chinese Ambassador to Guyana Guo Haiyan and Hon. Oneidge Walrond, Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce jointly attended the opening ceremony of the Training Course on Bamboo Weaving Techniques in Guyana

On July 26th, Chinese Ambassador H.E. Guo Haiyan and Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of Guyana Hon. Oneidge Walrond officially announced the commencement of the Bamboo & Rattan Products Development Training Programme in Santa Aratack Mission, Region 3. Mr Li Hanqing, Counselor of the Embassy, Mr Kamrul Baksh, Director of Guyana Tourism Authority, and 30 trainees and some local residents attended.

Ambassador Guo said the training aims to assist Guyana in further exploring bamboo and rattan resources and producing more bamboo weaving products for eco-tourism industry. Guo also introduced the Bamboo as a Substitute for Plastic Initiative proposed by China and INBAR. 

Minister Oneidge Walrond recognized the training as another example of the deep friendship and productive cooperation  between China and Guyana.
