Consul General Chen Shijie attended the 2024 New Zealand International Building Summit Awards Ceremony hosted by the New Zealand Chinese Building Industry Association (NZCBIA) on 9 August. Prime Minister of New Zealand Christopher Luxon, Building and Construction Minister Chris Penk, Member of Parliament Nancy Lu, Mayor of Auckland Wayne Brown, representatives of building sector from the China and New Zealand attended the event.
In his speech, Prime Minister Luxon spoke highly of the outstanding contributions made by the Chinese New Zealanders to the country's building industry as well as the overall economy. Minister Penk said that the government is actively promoting reforms to remove barriers for opening up the access to overseas building products.
Consul General Chen communicated with the guests and shared his opinions on the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. He hoped that the building industry of China and New Zealand would work together to complement each other's strengths and benefit two peoples. New Zealand politicians and business community expressed their confidence in the prospects of pragmatic cooperation between New Zealand and China.
