On August 14, 2024, H. E. Yan Xiusheng, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Barbados met with The Hon. Kerrie D. Symmonds, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados. Ambassador Yan provided Minister Symmonds with a detailed briefing on the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. Ambassador Yan emphasized that the Third Plenary Session scientifically mapped out an overall plan to further deepen reform comprehensively to advance Chinese modernization, and released a clear signal to further expand high-standard opening up, which will provide new opportunities for all countries in the world including Barbados.

The two sides also conducted in-depth exchanges on bilateral practical cooperation and other issues of mutual concern.
