On August 16, H.E. Yang Xiaoguang, Chinese Ambassador to PNG, held a reception for 2024 Chinese Government Scholarship recipients and Military Scholarship recipients. Hon. Kinoka Feo, Minister of Higher Education, officials from Department of Foreign Affairs, DHERST and Department of Defence, scholarship recipients, representative of Chinese universities graduates, and PNG journalists attended the reception.

Ambassador Yang delivered congratulations to the scholarship recipients， introduced the significance of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and the meeting’s important deployment in the field of education. Ambassador Yang reviewed the outcomes of the educational cooperation between China and PNG, and expressed his hope that all the students would cherish the opportunity to study in China, learn Chinese language and professional knowledge well, and become the contributors to the economic and social development of PNG, the promoters of China-PNG Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and the inheritors of China-PNG friendship.

Minister Feo commended the achievements of China’s development, thanked the Chinese side for supporting PNG’s economical and social development, and encouraged PNG students to seize the opportunity, study hard, and return to PNG after completing studies to contribute to the construction of the country and cooperation between China and PNG.

Representatives of the recipients and graduates also shared their feelings and expressed their gratitude to the Chinese Government.
