On 21 August, H.E. Wang Yu, Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, presented Letter of Credence to H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
Ambassador Wang extended to President Mohamud cordial greetings by President Xi Jinping and commended the progress made by Somalia in peace and security as well as national development during past years.
Ambassador Wang also expressed China’s readiness to work jointly with Somalia to ride the momentum of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) summit and further implement the consensus reached by the two countries’ heads of state to strengthen the mutually beneficial cooperation and traditional friendship, bringing China-Somalia relationship to new heights.
President Mohamud extended his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping through Ambassador Wang and congratulated ambassador’s assumption of duty in Somalia.
President Mohamud appreciated China’s constant support to Somalia’s efforts in safeguarding sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as promoting peace and development. He said that Somalia attaches great importance to the cooperation with China and is ready to work with China to continuously expand the friendly cooperation and enhance the bilateral relationship.
President Mohamud also said that Somalia will actively participate in the FOCAC summit and expect the success of the event.
Ambassador Wang arrived in Mogadishu on 6 August.
