On August 23, 2024, H. E. Mr. Fan Yong, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, signed the Letter of Exchange on the China-supported  Mmopane-Block 8 Road Project, with Hon. Peggy Serame, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Botswana.

The China-supported Mmopane- Block 8 Road will be 6.6 km in total length. The completion of the project will effectively relieve the traffic pressure, and improve the travel conditions of residents in the Mmopane area.

Ambassador Fan said to the press that in recent years, the two countries have signed a series of agreements on economic and technical cooperation, and both sides will work together to implement them. The 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation will be held in Beijing soon, and the two countries are expected to conduct closer cooperation in the future.
