On September 7, the Consulate General of China in San Francisco hosted the “China in My Eyes” Open Day. Consul General Zhang Jianmin, together with his wife Zheng Xin, attended the event and delivered a speech. Nearly 300 local American teenagers, parents and teachers participated.

Consul General Zhang introduced“50,000 in 5 Years” initiative announced by President Xi Jinping and the“Young Envoys Scholarship”(namely the YES Program), encouraging U.S. youth to experience and understand China in a more comprehensive and multi-dimensional way.
Consul General Zhang expressed the hope that the young American students could absorb the essence of both Chinese and American cultures, become a driving force and the cultural ambassadors for China-U.S. exchanges, and contribute to China-U.S. friendship in the new era.
During the event, the guests also watched exhibition of the achievements of China's development and the introduction of the Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco, experienced the charm of traditional Chinese culture by learning the Chinese calligraphy. The representatives of teenagers shared their experiences and feelings of visiting China. The young diplomats from the Consulate General and teenagers enthusiastically exchanged views, and enlivened the atmosphere with fun quizzes and other activities.
