On September 12, Ambassador Hou Yanqi hosted a reception to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China in Jakarta. Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, Director General for ASEAN Cooperation and SOM Leader ASEAN-Indonesia H.E. Sidharto Suryodipuro, were present with ambassadors to ASEAN, and representatives from regional think tanks, media and Chinese enterprises.

Ambassador Hou briefed China's historic development achievements over the past 75 years and stressed that the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee is epoch-making, ushering in broader and brighter prospects for Chinese modernization, and will bring new opportunities to countries worldwide, especially for ASEAN and other neighboring countries.

In their congratulatory remarks, Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn and Permanent Representative of Malaysia to ASEAN H.E. Sarah Al Bakri Devadason highly praised China's development achievements, expressed their appreciation of China’s continuous support for ASEAN and contribution to the region, and wished the China-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership would continue to reach new levels.

In a warm atmosphere, the guests exchanged ideas on China-ASEAN friendship while enjoying Chinese folk music performances.
