On September 16, the Chinese Consulate General in Davao held a reception to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Vice Mayor of Davao City Atty. J Melchor Quitain Jr. delivered a speech on behalf of Mayor Sebastian Duterte. More than 300 guests attended, including Congressman Isidro Ungab, Mr. Raul Lambino, Chairman of the Association for Philippines-China Understanding, representatives of the Office of Vice President Satellite Offices, and representatives from a number of provinces and municipalities in Mindanao, representatives of Region XI offices from various departments of the Government of the Philippines, Davao Consular Corps, the Chinese community, Chinese enterprises, and Confucius Institute.
Consul General Zhao recalled the great achievements of the new China in the past 75 years and said that the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China had put forward more than 300 reform initiatives, whose implementation would further broaden the cooperation between China and Mindanao. The two sides should eliminate external interference, move toward each other in a win-win manner and build a better future together.
In his speech, Mayor of Davao City warmly congratulated the People's Republic of China on the 75th anniversary of its founding, saying that interactions with China in various fields have greatly boosted the development of Davao City. The City of Davao is looking forward to more in-depth cooperation with China for common prosperity.
