Chinese Embassy in The Bahamas Hosts Reception in Celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China

On 18 September 2024, the Chinese Embassy in The Bahamas hosted a reception in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. The Hon. Prime Minister Philip Davis, the Hon. Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper, the Hon. Foreign Minister Frederick Mitchell and another ten cabinet ministers, the Hon. President of the Senate Lashell Adderley as well as other political leaders, Bahamian friends from various sectors, representatives of the Diplomatic Corps, the Chinese enterprises, the Chinese community in The Bahamas, and Mr. Chen Runyun, Vice President of Academy for International Business Officials,Ministry of Commerce of China participated the event.

Ambassador Yan Jiarong delivered a speech highlighting the remarkable achievements China has made over the past 75 years. She called attention to the major outcome of the 3rd Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China which brings new opportunities for China-Bahamas cooperation as China has entered a new stage of deepening reforms and greater openness.

Prime Minister Davis and Foreign Minister Mitchell commended China's accomplishments in poverty reduction and rapid modernization. Appreciation was expressed for China's Global Development Initiative as well as a variety of global Initiatives to endure commitment to global well-being. They reaffirmed commitment to deepening cooperation between The Bahamas and China based on the One-China principle.

The guests were engaged in a lively atmosphere where a photo exhibition and an Embassy-made theme video were displayed, together with traditional Chinese and Bahamian music performances. The event was covered by Bahamian mainstream media.
