Chinese Embassy in Uganda Holds a Reception to Celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China

On September 25, Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Zhang Lizhong held a Reception in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. More than 400 people attended this reception, including Ugandan H.E. Vice President Jessica Alupo, Hon. Minister of State for Health Anifa Kawooya Bangirana, friends from all walks of life in Uganda, Members of the Diplomatic Corps in Uganda, Chinese companies in Uganda, Representatives of Overseas Chinese, Chinese medical teams to Uganda, and Confucius Institutes.

Ambassador Zhang Lizhong said in his speech that the People's Republic of China has made remarkable achievements in development since its founding 75 years ago. This year, the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee was successfully held in Beijing, drawing up a grand blueprint for China to further deepen reform comprehensively. Under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, the Chinese people are striding forward on the road of promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese-style modernization.

Ambassador Zhang Lizhong said that the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation concluded with a big success. China has established strategic partnership with all African countries having diplomatic ties with China and the Overall characterization of China-Africa relations has been elevated to an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era. This has created tremendous momentum and opportunities for China and Africa to jointly advance modernization characterized by six features,  and implement the Ten Partnership Actions.

Ambassador Zhang Lizhong pointed out that this year is the first year of the China-Uganda comprehensive strategic partnership. The political mutual trust between the two countries has been continuously deepened, high-level exchanges have become increasingly close, practical cooperation has yielded fruitful results, economic and trade ties have continued to tighten, and cultural exchanges have been splendid. China is willing to work with Uganda to take the implementation of the Ten Partnership Actions as an opportunity to enhance the synergy of development strategies, enrich the connotation of the comprehensive strategic partnership, promote the deepening and substantive practical cooperation in various fields between the two countries, and jointly build a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future.

Uganda Vice President Alupo warmly congratulated the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, spoke highly of the great development achievements made by the Chinese people of all ethnic groups under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, and thanked China for its valuable support to Uganda in the fields of medical and health care, infrastructure construction, agricultural modernization, industrialization, etc.

Alupo warmly congratulated the successful convening of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and said that the framework agreement on economic partnership for shared development and two Protocols of Phytosanitary Requirements for Export of Dried Chilies & Wild Aquatic Products from Uganda to China were signed during the summit. These have opened up new horizons for China-Uganda economic and trade cooperation. Alupo highly praised the China-Africa joint promotion of modernization and the Ten Partnership Actions, which are in line with Africa's development demands, and looked forward to continuously enriching the China-Uganda comprehensive strategic partnership for the benefit of the two countries and their peoples.

The reception played a promotional video on the achievements of China-Uganda practical cooperation produced under the guidance of the embassy. Representatives of the Confucius Institute, local students, and overseas Chinese performed street dance, Chinese songs, Kungfu fans, etc., showing the achievements of China-Uganda civilization exchanges and mutual learning.

A handover ceremony for the 23rd and 24th medical teams to Uganda and a Tribute ceremony for Confucius Institute teacher volunteers were also held on site.
