On October 24, an Open Day event organized by Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Iceland welcomed undergraduate and graduate students of political science department from the University of Iceland.
Ambassador He RuLong introduced in his address the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, highlighting openness as a distinctive feature of Chinese modernization. He stressed that China’s development is an opportunity for the rest of the world which will also create favorable conditions for the further development of China-Iceland relations. The initiative of “promoting the number of French students studying in China to exceed 10,000 in the next three years, and doubling the scale of European youth exchanges in China” will deepen China-Europe exchange and cooperation among youth and foster mutual friendship and trust. Ambassador He also addressed questions from students regarding Arctic issues, China-Russia relations and visiting China.
During the event, themed introductory video clips “China: Race to the Future” and “YES Project” were played. Representatives from different sections of the embassy presented updates on collaboration between China and Iceland across multiple fields. Students participated in activities such as Hanfu (Chinese costumes) dressing and table tennis playing. Students expressed that this event was lively and colorful, offering them a unique opportunity to connect with and understand China up close. They hoped to visit China in the future.
