Chinese Ambassador to Croatia Qi Qianjin Attends the Opening Ceremony of China Film Festival 2024

On November 26, the China Film Festival 2024 opened in Zagreb, Croatia. The event was attended by Chinese Ambassador to Croatia Mr. Qi Qianjin, Deputy Director of the China Film Archive Ms. Xue Ning, Vice-rector of the University of Zagreb Prof. Jurica Pavičić, and over 200 guests, including representatives from various Croatian sectors, educators and students, members of the Chinese community, and media professionals.

Ambassador Qi highlighted that China not only boasts a rich traditional culture but is also actively fostering the development of advanced modern culture. Many contemporary cultural products have gained popularity both domestically and internationally, including among Croatian audiences. He emphasized that the film festival provides a new window for the Croatian public to gain insight into Chinese culture, further enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the two nations.

Ms. Xue Ning and Prof. Pavičić expressed their gratitude for the embassy’s support and expressed their commitment to use the festival as a bridge to strengthen cultural ties between China and Croatia.

Following the opening ceremony, attendees enjoyed the screening of the film Moon Man, which received enthusiastic acclaim.

The film festival, jointly organized by the Confucius Institute at the University of Zagreb and the China Film Archive, will run until February next year and will showcase more than ten outstanding Chinese films.
