On December 8th, H.E. Dr. Irfaan Ali, President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, and H.E. First Lady Arya Ali hosted a farewell Dinner for outgoing Ambassador Guo Haiyan. Hon. Hugh Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Dr. Ashni Singh Minister of Finance, Hon. Pauline Sukhai, Minister of Amerindian Affairs, Hon. Kwame McCoy, Minister within the Office of the Prime Minister, Hon. Susan Rodrigues, Minister within the Ministry of Housing and Water, Capt. (Ret) Gerry Gouveia, National Security Adviser to President, Mr. Paul Cheong, President of the Guyana/China Friendship Society (GCFS), and Mr. Ernesto Choo-A-Fat, Vice President of the GCFS joined the dinner. President Ali extended gratitude for Ambassador Guo’s extraordinary contribution to promoting Guyana-China friendship and pragmatic cooperation. The two sides had in-depth discussion on cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
On December 9th, Ambassador Guo bid farewell to H.E. Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, the General Secretary of the People Progressive Party and Vice President of Guyana. The two sides noted that the ruling parties of the two countries attach great importance to the development of their relations and look forward to further expanding exchanges and cooperation.
