Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco Hosts Reception Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China

On September 19, the Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco held areception to celebrate the 75thanniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Consul General Zhang Jianmin delivered a speech, while Governor Gavin Newsom of California and Mayor London Breed of San Francisco sent congratulatory messages. The event was attended by about 500 guests from various sectors across the consular jurisdiction, including California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown,Chief of Staff to the Mayor Sean Elsbernd and Regional Director of OFM’s San Francisco Regional Office John Y. Choi.

Consul General Zhang highlighted the remarkable achievements China has made over the past 75 years, with a focus on the outcomes of the 20th CPC Central Committee’s Third Plenary Session. He also reflected on the historical journey of 45 years of China-US diplomatic relations. He called for enhanced cooperation in various fields to promote people-to-people exchanges, strengthen subnational cooperation, and foster youth friendship, in efforts to inject vitality into and create a brighter future for China-US relations, thus turning the San Francisco Vision into reality.

Governor Newsom, Mayor Breed, Treasurer Ma, former Mayor Brown and other guests praised the fruitful cooperation between California and China, stressed the importance of maintaining strong local ties, and expressed hope for continued steady growth of China-US relations.
