On 19 September, H.E. Wang Yu, Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, Speaker of the Upper House of the Federal Parliament of Somalia.

Ambassador Wang conveyed to Speaker Abdullahi the cordial greetings of H.E. Zhao Leji, Chairman of China’s National People’s Congress Standing Committee and briefed Speaker Abdullahi on the important outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). He said that China is ready to work with Somalia to promote development of the strategic partnership of the two countries.

Speaker Hashi spoke highly of the Somalia-China traditional friendship and gladly recalled his visits to China more than 40 years ago, and stated that the Upper House of Federal Parliament of Somalia stands ready to enhance exchanges and cooperation between legislative bodies of the two countries.
