On September 27, the Chinese Consulate General in Cebu held a reception to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Nearly 500 guests attended the reception, including friends and representatives from local governments, local authorities, Cebu Consular Corps, the Chinese community, Chinese enterprises and students.

Cebu City acting mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia delivered a speech while representatives from the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas and some local governments delivered messages on behalf.

Consul General Zhang Zhen recalled the great achievements of the new China in the past 75 years. She said that China’s progress has boosted the confidence of developing countries in achieving modernization. She pointed out, that Chinese modernization benefits the world. China is a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development and a champion of international order. A more open China with high-quality development will bring more development opportunities to all countries in the world, especially neighboring countries.

Consul General Zhang Zhen stated that China adheres to the policy of developing friendship and partnership with neighbors, and acts on the principle of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness. The Consulate General is ready to work with friends from all walks of life to enhance people-to-people exchanges, promote friendship between local governments, andadvance China-Philippines relations for common prosperity and lasting peace.

At the reception, the guests enjoyed video shows and performances by local students and friends. The hall was filled with a warm atmosphere with friendly talks and warm applause.
