From October 9th to 10th, the 9th “Bridge for Cities” event co-hosted by China and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) was held at the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna. Ambassador Li Song, Permanent Representative of China in Vienna, attended the opening ceremony.
In his remarks, Ambassador Li Song noted that the “Bridge for Cities” Event is in line with the Belt and Road Initiative and is highly consistent with the Global Development Initiative. He said that China’s urban development can provide useful experiences for urban construction in the “Global South”. He expressed that China is willing to strengthen communication and exchanges with all parties to jointly make the cities we live in better and more livable, and promote stronger, greener and healthier global development.
Gerd Müller, Director General of UNIDO said that the “Bridge for Cities” event has become UNIDO’s flagship event and thanked the Chinese government for its long-term strong support for this event. Ye Niuping, the Mayor of Xi’an City attended the Mayors Dialogue held during the event and shared Xi’an’s green and low-carbon development measures and experiences with participants.
