On October 16, the Chinese Embassy in Norway held an open day event themed “Beauty of China” for members of the Kinaforeningen-The Norwegian Society for Chinese Adoptees and Allies, and Norwegian families who have adopted children from China. Huang Lixin, Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress, who was visiting Norway, attended the event.
During her remarks, Ambassador Hou Yue said that China is an ancient and young, modern and traditional, open and inclusive country. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Norway. The successful visit of Prime Minister Støre to China has created new opportunities for further enhancing exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. Ambassador Hou warmly welcomed Norwegian friends to learn more about China and continue to make more contributions to expanding pragmatic cooperation and deepening the friendship between the two peoples.
Chairwoman Huang introduced to the guests Shanghai’s achievements in economic and social development, as well as its cultural and tourism highlights. Ms. Guro Jansdotter Skåre-Jullum, leader of the board of Kinaforeningen, expressed her gratitude to the embassy for organizing this special event and looked forward to more opportunities to visit China.
The China Welfare Institute Children’s Palace Little Companion Art Troupe from Shanghai delighted the audience with some excellent performances. Guests also had a chance to experience traditional Chinese arts such as calligraphy and paper cutting during the event.
