On November 6th, Yin Chengwu, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, attended the Handover Ceremony of Items donated by the Chinese Embassy to the “Street Children Project” of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection and delivered a speech in the presence of Hon. Gbeme Horace-Kollie, the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. J. Alexander Nuetah, the Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Botoe Kanneh,the Chairman of Senate Committee on Gender, Social Welfare, Women and Children Affairs and the representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Labor and social organization, among others.
Yin said, Street children are one of the most vulnerable groups in Liberian, in dire need of care. “Street Children Project” shines a light of humanity. It is an investment in the future and provides an opportunity for China-Liberia friendship and cooperation. China has been committed to the healthy development of Liberian children and has provided support to the best of its ability. China is willing to strengthen cooperation with Liberia to continuously promote the well-being of children.
Hon. Kollie thanked the Chinese side for its long-term contribution to the social progress and development of the children's cause in Liberia, and said they will continue to work closely with China to make good use of the supplies, and strive relentlessly to create a better environment for children’s growth.
