On 2 December, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives H.E. Wang Lixin paid a farewell call on the Vice President of the Maldives H.E. Hussain Mohamed Latheef.
Ambassador Wang expressed her gratitude for the support extended by the Vice President during her tenure. She said that this year marks the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping’s state visit to the Maldives. Over the past decade, pragmatic cooperation between the two countries in various sectors has brought tangible benefits to the people of the Maldives. In January this year, at the invitation of President Xi, President Dr. Muizzu made a successful state visit to China. As a result, the relationship between the two countries has reached a new high. Both sides are committed to leveraging this opportunity to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and to deepen practical cooperation in various areas, which will further benefit the two peoples.
The Vice President highly appreciated China’s longstanding and strong support for the Maldives’ economic and social development. He thanked Ambassador Wang for her tireless efforts in promoting the development of China-Maldives relations and stated that he would continue to promote the friendship between the Maldives and China.
