On December 4, the Chinese Embassy in Guyana hosted farewell reception for H.E. Ambassador Guo Haiyan. Acting President and Prime Minister Hon. Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Anthony Phillips,Hon. Foreign Minister Hugh Todd and Cabinet members, friends from all sectors of Guyana, the Diplomatic Corps in Guyana, as well as representatives of Chinese medical team, Confucius Institute, Chinese enterprises and Chinese communities in Guyana attended the event.
Ambassador Guo affectionately recalled the joint celebration of 50th anniversary of China-Guyana relations, H.E. Guyanese President Dr. Irfaan Ali’s visit to China among other exchanges and cooperation in various fields over the last three years, applauded the fast development of Guyana and the overall uplift of China-Guyana relations, thanked friends from all sectors for their support to the Embassy and anticipated that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Guyana friendship will continue to flourish.
On behalf of the Government and people of Guyana, Hon. Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Anthony Phillips extended heartfelt gratitude for Ambassador Guo’s contribution to promote the friendship and cooperation between the two countries. He underscored that Guyana will continue to support One China policy, strengthen Guyana-China ties marked by progress, collaboration and mutual respect and deepen cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
